Charles Phua Chao Rong

Phua Chao Rong, Charles is a Deputy Chairman at the NYAA GAHA and the youth organiser for Sing! S2010. He received his BSc (Hons) and MSc (Research) in International Relations at the London School of Economics under a SAF scholarship. In the UK, he produced and sang in the Goodenough Voices of the Commonwealth song album for the Commonwealth Secretariat. He also produced and recorded songs for the Armour and Signal Formations in the SAF. For his contributions to youth leadership and community service, he received the Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Award in 2004 and HSBC Youth Excellence Award from President S R Nathan in 2005, amongst other awards. He is currently working in MINDEF.



Yu Danquan

Yu Danquan received his B.Mus (Hons) at King’s College London and M.Mus at Royal College of Music (RCM) under a full scholarship from the Ministry of Education. In the UK, the musical pieces he composed were world premiered in St Paul’s Cathedral, set to choreography at Laban, performed at the 57th Aldeburgh Festival, made into 2 original musicals, and won the 1st prize of Orchestration competition jointly organised by RCM, Royal Philharmonic Society and Elgar Society. He is currently a music lecturer at Raffles Institution (Junior College).



Dex Wong

Dex Wong is currently a programming executive at *SCAPE Co. Ltd in charge of the music programmes. He received his BComms from Edith Cowan University, Perth Western Australia. Being heavily involved in campus life, he coordinated the university’s 2005 Multi Cultural Day festival within a short time line of 2 months. He was involved with Awakening Productions during the start of Esplanade’s Baybeats Festival in 2002 and has conceptualised and grown new plus existing *SCAPE music platforms that have increased in numbers and popularity among the youth (WeekendTRIP mini music Festival and Confessions!) for the past 2.5 years. He has also been involved in band projects ‘PensionState’ from 1997 - current. The band played Esplanade’s Baybeats main stage slots (2002 and 2004) and shared the festival stage with Brandtson (US), Last Days of April (Sweden) opening for Eight (NZ) and No Longer Music (NZ) on their Singapore tour in 2001.
